Villa [O] is a vacation house in close proximity of Tehran, in the rural area of Abesard, characterized by a mild climate and an abundance of orchards. The villa is enclosed in an orchard of 30000 square meters and is used only on weekends and holidays, for leisure, social gathering and parties.
Due to this specific use, the extension of social events from one room to another and from the interior to the exterior is essential for its convenience. To achieve this the interior spaces are separated only subtly with changes in height or the use of transparent walls, a general rule is to avoid interior solid walls. The exterior shell is transparent when possible, and opens up to the outside in order to facilitate and increase connection and circulation.
The vacation house contains two indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzi and sauna, a gym, an equipped kitchen and dining room, a TV and game room and a dancing space among others. It comprises a large footprint of --- square meters. With houses of such scales it is necessary to walk long distances which can become irritating and is not practical. To minimize this effect, spaces are arranged around a courtyard on two levels.
The courtyard creates a more enclosed and introvert spatial pattern, which guarantees continuity and connection while preserving privacy, a very important factor considering that this villa hosts activities that are not commonplace in a rural area.
The courtyard also serves as a circulation space between different parts of the house in the ground floor. To shorten the distance between the two further points of the house on the first floor, a bridge is passing through the courtyard is added.
